Death and Rebirth II
Oct. 21, 1999
When flight is taken out from the failing flesh
To worlds unknown, unvisited by bodily mind,
Cleaving a pathway through the subtle sheaths,
An arrows brilliant flight homing to its sun
To sleep among the starry fields of light,
Perhaps to dream of all that might have been,
The endless possibilities of life,
The joy of the plunge from the heights, falling to birth,
The years of youth, the fullness of old age,
The hopes that rose then slowly fading, failed,
Moments only aware of the inner flame,
Then lulled like an infant in the flow of fate
And the rushing tempo of all that must be achieved
Ere the sun would finally set on this house of bones.
Yet something gained, some newness of spirit's growth
Remains to be reviewed and gathered round
The silent flame, spark of that greater spark,
And when the resting time is done, prepare
A new descent on evolution's soil,
Turn the wheel another turn and notch
The ratchet higher still in human time
That the soul may brighten through the living frame
And tread the earth with conscious feet of light
Of supramental brilliance, truth's descent
On a transformed world of gnostic consciousness.
